What is the procedure?
As with any procedure Six Month Smiles Guildford requires us to conduct a thorough examination including X-rays, an intraoral scan and numerous facial images. We will need to take impressions of your teeth, so that we can create a model which we will use when calculating the required movements to correct your condition. We will then send all the information to the laboratory where the various components of the appliance will be manufactured specifically to suit you. You will be required to return for a second appointment when we will carefully fit the appliance, which consists of clear brackets and tooth coloured wires. Once fitted you will be required to return for regular appointments every four to five weeks, to allow us to make the necessary adjustments that will move your teeth to their desired locations. Once the required result has been achieved the appliance will be removed and a special custom-made retainer will need to be worn for a while afterwards, to allow your teeth to settle in their new alignment.
